What is occasional childcare?
Occasional childcare is a service provided by Thornbury Women's Neighbourhood House for women attending classes at the House, and for local families who need their children cared for on an occasional basis.

Our Playroom
Our childcare is a registered Children's Services Centre under the Children's Services Act 1996.

Our Program
The Occasional Childcare program at TWNH is for children between 6 months and 5 years of age. We provide a fully accredited childcare service run by qualified and experienced staff at a low cost.

Our program is play based and focuses on the strengths and interests of each individual child. There is an emphasis on the use of natural materials and environmentally friendly practices.

We promote a sense of well being, security and independence in the children, encouraging respect for and understanding of one another.

T1 February 4 - March 20 (7 weeks)
T2 April 14 - June 27 (11 weeks)
T3 July 21 - Sept 19 (9 weeks)
T4 October 6 - December 5 (9 weeks)

Monday - Friday 9:15am - 12:15 pm
and Wednesday 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Cost

Occasional care fees are:
- $20 full fee / $31 for 2 children
- $13 concession / $20 for 2 children
- $9 full fee / $7 concession - to attend a class

Term bookings are now available, a discount applies. Casual places may also be available.

Term bookings

Term bookings will be taken for all places.
-- $144 full fee / $88 concession for 1 child
--$232 full fee / $144 concession for 2 children
--Attending class - $56 for 1 child
--Attening class - $88 for 2 chhildren

Fees must be paid in full by the beginning of each term. A deposit is necessary to secure your booking. For Occasional Care a deposit of $25, for a class placement booking, a deposit of $10 is needed.

Booking

To book a casual occasional childcare place call 9480 0466 during office hours. Bookings can be made up to one week in advance.

If you are attending a class, bookings are made for the duration of your class/course.

If you are interested in having your child attend our Occasional Childcare Program you will need to fill out an enrollment form, available from the office.

Bookings are essential
Bookings may be made prior to the Christmas closing on the 21st of December 2007. A $10 deposit is required, Casual booking prices apply if no deposit is paid. Please call the Thornbury Women's Neighbourhood House to book on 9480 0466.

Please Note: If there are insufficient bookings for any session it will not go ahead. We will contact you at least 24 hours ahead to let you know.

If you are interested in having your child attend our Holiday Childcare Program, and they have not attended during the year, you will need to fill out an enrollment form, available from the office.

Our Program
Your child must be 3 years old before the 30th of April in order to be old enough to attend this program.

Our 3 Year Old Kinder Program is based on children's strengths and interests, what they can do, rather than what they can't. The program is child centered, that is, many of the experiences are initiated by the children themselves. Careres do however use their knowledge of child development to provide experiences to extend or reinforce children's learning.

We believe in the importance of play in your child's learning and place a heavy emphasis on the use of natural materials. Sand, dirt, clay and water are integral elements in our program. Messy play is vital to children's development so expect your child to get dirty and dress them in appropriate clothing.

Per school terms
Children may attend a maximum of 3 sessions per week
There is a 15% discount on the cost of the 2nd OR 3rd session attended

Program B (2 sessions)
Monday & Friday 1:00 - 3:45 pm
