Certificate I in Information Technology (ICA 10105) 2010

Days and Times:

Fridays  9.15am - 12.15pm

3 hours per week for 18 weeks

Concession rate:$105 + $45 manual (optional) 

Non Concession rate: $148.00 + $45 manual (optional)

Eligibility:  Australian citizens & permanent residents or TPV holders with no formal education qualifications.  Concession:  Centrelink, Health card holders

Fee for service:  $140 per term + manual optional $45

Students may enrol for this course at any time during the year as it is flexibly delivered with students working at their own pace with a text book and with an experienced computer tutor.  Each student has their own up to date computer in the classroom.

This course provides the skills and knowledge to function at a basic level of computer competency using a personal computer.

The six units of competency cover training in the most commonly used microsoft computer application packages (listed below).  These packages are delivered flexibly so students can learn at their own pace.  You can complete one or more of the packages and will receive a Statement of Attainment for each package when you attain competency.

 

  • Operate a personal computer
  • Operate a word processing application
  • Operate a spreadsheet application
  • Operate a database application
  • Operate a presentation package
  • Send and retrieve information using web browsers and email

Assessment methods:

Assessment methods include practical, theory, assignments, samples and ongoing class work.  Students can choose when they are ready for assessments.  The assessment is 'open book' rather than a 'test' in which students are asked to demonstrate various competencies as well as complete the set exercised/activities.  Students will also be required to omplete a rtange of activities as they work throug the manuals.  These activities can be printed or saved as part evedence of competency.

Pre-requisites:

Basic computer skills are an advantage.  If you do not already have very basic computer skills it may be best to enrol for our Computers for Begineers course prior to undertaking Certificate I in IT.

Cost:

Free

Internet training for people with a disability.

Free training will be offered in small groups and will be tailored to suit your interests. You may want to learn how to create your own blog, set up and participate in a wiki, access information by googling, or how to email your friends and relations.

Funded by: The Department of Planning and Community Development in association with Vicnet and DHS.

Will be held at various times, including day and evenings.

Computers For Beginners

2 1/2 hours per week for 18 weeks.

 

Cost:

$50 (eligility criteria applies)

Australian citizens & permanent residents or TPV holders with no formal education qualifications.

ACFE Funded

Fee for Service:  $130 per 9 week term

This course is designed for total beginners who have never used a computer and / or people who lack confidence with their basic computer skills.  No previous skills necessary.  Some internet and email sessions will be included.
